The United States Navy reportedly issued warning shots against Iranian Revolutionary Guard ships in the Gulf Coast region. The warning shots are known to be launched from the USS Thunderbolt.
As proclaimed by the BBC, Wednesday (26/7/2017), the incident occurred approximately at 03:00 in the morning local time. Warning shots were fired as Iranian ships continued to sail close to the USS Thunderbolt so it was feared it would trigger a collision or collision.
A US defense official said that the ship was within a distance of approximately 137 meters from the warship Uncle Sam's country. Iranian ships are also known to have ignored radio calls and warnings by whistles conducted by the USS Thunderbolt.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Force itself is known to be a military force directly responsible for Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"The Iranian Revolutionary Guards ship is coming in at high speed and is not responding to any signal, they are not responding to a bridge-to-bridge call, so we have no choice but to launch a warning shot," said a US military force.
Luckily, the Iranian ship then stopped shortly after warning shots were launched. The incident is the latest in a series of meetings between US and Iranian ships. Earlier in January, US destroyer USS Mahan fired three warning shots against Iranian speedboats that set sail at high speed in the Strait of Hormuz.
US President, Donald Trump himself in his campaign period once said he would shoot Iranian ships that disrupt the US Navy in the Gulf.
